Highway Stripers, Equipment Operators, Paint Truck Drivers

Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc., a leading Oregon based highway pavement marking company, is seeking Highway Stripers, Equipment Operators and Paint Truck Drivers to join our team. Private wage is negotiable depending on experience; willing to train. Prevailing wage rates range between $20.60 and $33.43 per hour with fringe benefits of $8.20 and $11.20 per hour. Benefits include a 401k plan, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lift, carry, load and unload various construction items including pavement marking supplies, signs, etc.; prepare, clean and sweep work area; operate equipment to place pavement marking material on pavement; operate grinder to remove old lines and pavement markings; install marking; apply and remove temporary and permanent marking; set up and remove construction signs and traffic control items at job site. 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site; clean grinders and paint machines; install, remove and reset delineators, signs, posts and supports; general maintenance and repair of equipment; other work related duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position is qualifying. A typical combination includes: knowledge and use of motorized equipment and basic maintenance procedures; occupational hazards and safety practices related to roadway work zones, equipment and materials used in markings, and safety procedures for securing and transporting cargo.  Candidates must possess good knowledge of state and local roadways and have experience with operating vehicles of varying sizes; communicate reports and evaluations effectively both orally and in writing. 

REQUIREMENTS
Experience:  Construction background. 
Driver’s License:  Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL preferred


PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an outdoor setting with exposure to the elements on or around loud machinery. There is frequent need to walk, talk, see, hear or drive, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform other similar actions during course of the workday.

Mechanic - Tualatin, OR

Immediate opening for a full-time experienced Equipment Shop Mechanic for a large highway striping and pavement marking company in Tualatin, Oregon. Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Maintenance and repairs of highway striping equipment and fleet

  • Perform road tests on vehicles in order to assure proper operating levels

  • Occasional service and repair of equipment in the field

  • Repair gasoline, diesel, and propane powered equipment and vehicles, and all related components including transmissions, brakes, drive trains, cooling and electrical systems

  • Unusual or difficult repair tasks

  • Perform diagnostic inspections on equipment to identify electrical, mechanical, or other problems 

  • Communicate with equipment operators or supervisors, drive and operate vehicles, or use diagnostic test equipment to identify problems

  • Repair smaller equipment such as pumps, small engines, or compressors

  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Five (5) years auto / diesel mechanic experience or tech school equivalent

  • Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one

  • Auto electrician and hydraulics skills

  • Must supply own tools

  • Extensive knowledge of the methods and tools used in the repair of gasoline, diesel, or propane maintenance, pumps, and grinding machines

  • Excellent problem solving abilities -- identify and resolve problems timely; gather and analyze information skillfully; demonstrate accuracy, use time efficiently and complete projects on time

  • Adaptability -- Ability to easily flow between tasks performed in a shop setting or operations conducted in the field with crews on job sites. Must be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events and manage the competing demands and multiple tasks generated in a changing work environment

  • Good oral and written communication skills lend to the high level of professionalism and teamwork expected in this position

Salary and Classification:

  • Competitive wage based on experience ($18 - $30 per hour, DOE), 401k and insurance benefit package negotiable

  • Permanent, Full-time, 40 hours / week, year round work (NO layoff in slow season)

  • Varying shifts and weekend work may be required during peak operations

Parking Lot Striper

Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc. a leading Oregon based highway pavement marking company, with a location in Sumner, Washington, is seeking Parking Lot Stripers to join our team. Private wage is negotiable depending on experience. The majority of projects are prevailing wage work with current wages ranging between $20.60 and $33.43 per hour with fringe benefits ranging from $8.20 to $11.20 per hour. Benefits include a 401k plan, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.  Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A member of the striping crew will perform various duties such as the layout and painting of line stripes in parking lots and on airports, stencil work, and other labor duties. Will be expected to run small power tools and operate hand pumps. May need to assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices as necessary. 

Will be expected to operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site; clean paint machines; general maintenance and repair of equipment; other work related duties as assigned.

Read, interpret and analyze striping plans as they relate to and describe pavement marking procedures; ability to properly use special traffic control procedures; ability to read, understand and to follow written and oral instructions with minimum supervision; exercise proper judgment in determining and correcting potential hazardous conditions in the field.

Work is performed in an outdoor setting with exposure to the elements on or around loud machinery. This could often include long hours of bending / stooping and walking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

CDL Sweeper Operator

Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc. is seeking an experienced Highway Sweeper Driver to join our Highway Striping Team. Work will be performed in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska; per diem is paid for each over-night out-of-town project.  Prevailing Wage Rates range from: $20.60 to $33.43 per hour and fringe benefits range from: $8.20 to $11.20 per hour; private wage is negotiable depending on experience. Benefits include a 401k plan, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Class A CDL with current medical card is required.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operating a Class A Sweeper on state roadways, highways and freeways, able to maintain daily Sweeper maintenance, able to work varying shifts during day or night, able to travel for out-of-town work, able assist in the laboring duties of a Highway Striper including: lifting up to 50 pounds, able to walk for extended periods of time, and ability to work in all weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Applicant must have experience operating and maintaining Class A Sweeper and experience working on construction crews, Current Class A CDL and medical card, clean driving record, lifting, bending, stooping, and walking for extended periods of time.

PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an outdoor setting and will include some exposure to the elements on or around loud machinery. There is frequent need to walk, lift, bend, stoop and carry up to 50 pounds while assisting in the labor duties with Highway Striping Crew, and perform other similar actions during course of the workday. Maintenance may need to be performed in the field depending on the need.  This job will be Full-Time, Seasonal, depending on weather conditions.

CNC Operator / Warehouseman

Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc., an Oregon Highway Striping Contractor, is seeking a dependable individual as a Full-Time CNC Operator/Warehouseman.  SPM is willing to train applicant. The hourly wage range is from $12.00 to $18.00 an hour depending on experience.  SPM offers Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k), paid holidays and PTO after probationary period is met.

  • Pull Order From Inventory in Warehouse

  • Re-Filling Inventory Shelves in Warehouse

  • Load/Unload Materials with Forklift

Requirements:

  • CNC Experience Preferred but not required

  • Computer Literate

  • Forklift Certified

  • Capable of Lifting 50 pounds

  • Good Verbal/Written Communication Skills

  • Positive Attitude

  • Valid and Clean Driving Record
